Check out this article from the WSJ: Small Firms Say LinkedIn Works, Twitter Doesn’t
From the article:
Six out of 10 small-business owners say they believe social-media tools are valuable to their company’s growth—but most aren’t impressed by Twitter Inc.
I’ve seen a lot of evolution over the last 6.5 years. Twitter was nothing, then was everything, then became weird.
LinkedIn, for all the dumb stuff they continue to do, continues to gain traction and maintain a value proposition (although some recent changes (in the last year) could jeopardize that.
For now, LinkedIn is still where you NEED to be. Twitter is where you could consider being, but it’s not critical (depending on your industry).
Personally I’ve seen the value of Twitter for me decrease to almost nothing in the last 18 months, which is sad.
