Can LinkedIn Work For You? Comments From Last Week…

October 6th, 2010 | by Jason Alba |

Last week I did about 20 hours of presenting, including two 6-hour workshops.

Judah Flum was in one of the 6-hour workshops, on the front row.

To be honest with you, I think I have great content and great ideas, but I wonder how many of the attendees will actually do some of this stuff.  Some of it is easy, some of it takes more effort.

Judah wrote a very nice email telling me that, indeed, I did make a difference… here’s what he said:

I joined a number of relevant groups and the group leader engaged me in a discussion about business process improvement. I changed my tagline and I received a nice comment and phone call from someone I hadn’t spoken to in a while and he wants to hire me for some consulting work. I targeted someone from a company on a job board, asking for an informational interview, and she is introducing me to a recruiter locally up here in Maryland.

Judah Flum did it! He made changes, proactively reached out and engaged! And he got results quickly!

I can’t pretend that any of this is silver-bullet tactics, but it can work – and in Judah’s case, it did!

Judah is a manager/strategist in Germantown, Maryland.  You can learn more about him at:

Good job Judah!

(a lot of what we talked about can be found in the 3 hour, $50 LinkedIn DVD).
