Getting People From Your Profile To An Opt-In Newsletter?
April 5th, 2013 | by Jason Alba |Check out this blog post from Joan Stewart, The Publicity Hound.
I met Joan a number of years ago and did a few webinars with her. Her advice is really good and her newsletter has a lot of good stuff… I finally met her in person last year at a conference
What she suggests in the link below is not as elegant as a Facebook App but it works. (okay, it’s really a hack… but if ya want it…)
How to add opt-in boxes to your LinkedIn profile, page
I don’t have a “newsletter” but I do have my LinkedIn Group, and can see doing this on my own Profile.
I also like how, on her Profile, she reordered things so that:
- The horrid Activity Box doesn’t show (good job Joan!).
- Summary is pushed below. I like the Summary, and I like it up high, but what she is doing makes sense because she ultimately wants people to end up on her newsletter. Smart, strategic and on-purpose.
I would definitely move her Summary above Experience, especially since the copy under Summary is more interesting and engaging than the one line she has on her current experience/job.
Anyway, if you want more people to “sign up” for your stuff, consider what she suggests in her link

So how do you get the activity box not to show?
