LinkedIn Endorsements to die be end of year?
March 22nd, 2013 | by Jason Alba |I doubt it. One could only be so hopeful.
Here’s an article by a recruiter writing for Business Insider: Why I Think LinkedIn Endorsements Will Be Dead By The End Of The Year (oh yeah, I guess this was on Inc also)
I don’t think they are going away for one simple reason: LinkedIn can brag about how many endorsements have been given. Already more than a year.
Endorsements bring eyeballs. People are probably spending more time on LinkedIn (not for real reasons… just poking around trying to navigate, wondering where they are, because someone endorsed them).
But investors and analysts don’t care WHY people are on LinkedIn, or WHAT they are doing. They are just hearing that there are more people coming, and they are more “engaged.”
Whatever.
As long as LinkedIn can say their metrics have improved (which they have, but without substance), Endorsements will stay.
The article I linked to above, though, is spot on.
LinkedIn Endorsements should be taken out behind the shed and shot.
But they probably won’t.

yes let’s get rid of endorsements and that from a man ( me!!) who has about 1500. Great for the ego but so what!!
Just before they are murdered one thought.
If you are thinking of doing business with someone who has few or no endorsements it might make you stop and think.
Just a thought
