Wow.  LinkedIn surprised me on this one.  They opened up the signups to ages 14 and up.

What do you think?

Here is what techie/nerds think about it (read the comments): http://tech.slashdot.org/story/13/08/20/2055200/linkedin-now-targeting-universities-14-year-olds?

The commentors on this Forbes post are much kinder :)

Slate sets the tone of their article with the word “terrifying”: The Latest Terrifying Teen Tech Trend: 14-Year-Olds on LinkedIn.  Read the comments there also.

Jezebel used another word: LinkedIn Lowers Age Limit to 13, Annihilates Childhood Forevermore. Not much love in those comments…

The beloved Wall Street Journal’s take: LinkedIn’s Minimum Age Drops to 14 in U.S.  One commenter said his kid is using Facebook less… I’m assuming he is guessing LI will be used less than that.

And finally, TechCrunch’s take: Losing Our Childhood To LinkedIn

I don’t think this will take off… I can’t imagine it getting much traction.  But, if it does, I wonder if this will be a turnoff for professionals and executives who are looking to network with their peers…

Time will tell.
