Doing It Right (With a Twist): Bernie Wagenblast’s Voice
February 6th, 2008 | by Jason Alba |I recently got an e-mail from my first degree connection Bernie Wagenblast:
I thought I’d share with you something I just started doing when I get a LinkedIn invitation.
For a while, rather than just accepting invitations I received, I responded with a personalized e-mail that provided some additional details about myself and my willingness to assist the person with whom I was now connected. I thought this would be one way to add some value to the connection rather than just adding the person to a list of connections.
My variation on that idea is adding a link to an audio greeting. I hope it’s one more way to make the connection a bit more personable. For me, it’s also helpful because it allows me to demonstrate one of the businesses with which I’m involved.
Here’s the audio – it’s very short, but you get a sense for his personality, his voice (which is a nice high-touch thing, imho), and what he’s looking for.
I absolutely love this – kudos Bernie!

I’m not a fan of audio greeting clips – they are slow and time-consuming.
