Steve Tylock wrote the very first book on LinkedIn.  It’s called the LinkedIn Personal Trainer.

He finally updated it… you can learn more about it here.

Steve’s day job is not training on LinkedIn, or writing… I think it’s pretty cool he got his book out.

For the record, mine was the second LinkedIn book, which is now in the third edition.

I’m not sure what the order is of the other books on LinkedIn…

There are benefits to ordering from either place.  If you order from Happy About, when a new edition comes out you’ll get a very nice email saying “as a thank you, we’ll send you the third edition as an ebook…”

If you purchased the first or second edition from Happy About you should get an email on how to get the ebook, at no additional cost, soon.  If you’ve purchased from Amazon or somewhere else, I’m not sure how the publisher will handle that, but I’ll post about it soon.

Yippee!  Now to start thinking about the fourth edition :p

So I finally started working on the third edition of my LinkedIn book: I’m on LinkedIn — Now What??? It should be printed sometime in Q1 of 2011. My publisher has been asking for this for a while but I’ve just been too busy with other stuff (the LinkedIn DVD, some BIG JibberJobber stuff, speaking, etc.).

But I need to update it for two reasons:

1. There have been a lot of enhancements with LinkedIn. It’s a moving target, of course, and I feel like there are great things on the horizon with LinkedIn, but I can’t wait any longer to get it updated.
2. I need to get this off my plate :p I have other big stuff I’m working on and a lot of speaking travelling I’ll do in the next few months… and I want to be able to CHECK THIS OFF THE LIST!  It’s bugging me to have it hang over my head!

How different is this going to be?  I’ve been told to just do a few updates and just get it done… but I can’t.  There are a lot of changes.  So far most of my pages look like this…. the red is the “track changes” from the last edition (don’t worry about the verbiage, this is unedited first draft thoughts):

Pretty much every page so far has much more red than black… lots of changes!

I got a message from a friend in New Jersey recently:

I was visiting my daughter in Vermont and saw your book at the local B&N.  Just for a smile I took one of my business cards and stuck it between a page where you used one of my quotes.  Thought whoever bought that copy might wonder how the heck that appeared.

Very clever on slipping your business card in there, I think that is hillarous!

But guess what – NEVER did I expect my book to be in a bookstore!  WOW! I asked my publisher about it and here is his response:

… if there is enough foot traffic at the store itself or in the region, either the store or regional book buyer will place an order with either of the two distributors we have our books in that do supply books to bookstores and libraries

I like it!  So when YOU ask the bookstore, or a library, for LinkedIn for Job Seekers, they can decide to order it in.  Next time you are in one try it out

Back in February my publisher booked a presentation for me in Silicon Valley and snapped this picture. I think we had about 80 people in this very small room – props to the 20 or so who were standing during the entire presentation (something I hate to do).

I’ve started my next project, which is a book on how to actually get financial return from using LinkedIn.

This is not a “get rich quick on LinkedIn book,” nor is it a “use LinkedIn to exploit your network” book.

There is a lot happening on LinkedIn, people are making deals, doing business, making sales, etc.  I want to share what they are doing and how they are doing it.

And I’m still looking for stories!  Do you have any stories on making money because of something you did on LinkedIn?  Or do you know anyone who did something on LinkedIn that resulted in revenue?
