Thanks as always for sharing. Looks like one of my fans beat me to the punch with my 235,001 number…never thought that I was one of the first users on LinkedIn…but Scott Allen’s number blew me away! I knew his middle name was social media, but..

I discovered a couple of interesting things by digging a little further.

First of all, I think the first 1200 or so IDs must have been for test data. The IDs of the founders start with Jean-Luc Vaillant (CTO) at 1210. Reid Hoffman is 1213.

On the LinkedIn company history page ( http://press.linkedin.com/history ), it says:

“The site launched on May 5th…when the five founders invited about 350 of their most important contacts to join.”

So it looks like up through about 1560 are the LinkedIn founders and their closest friends.

Jeez oh Man..I thought I was in early in the game with LinkedIn with my 1,111,299th ranking, but then I see some 4 digit numbers and I am humbled.

But then again my wife always says “size doesn’t matter” so I got that going for me! LOL.
