The best solution would be for LinkedIn to create a simple tool that gives people the option to "Print to Resume." It would be dead simple and would make every career consultant a LinkedIn evangelist. I am sure the feature is in the works.

As a small business owner, I really don't care how long my profile is because every word in that profile, puts me in more searches. For the average person, I would do what you feel is showcasing you enough. More is more in my book.

I just updated mine, added more! I don't think I can add much more haha.

What a great idea!
Now, the next question is, how do you know if your LinkedIn profile IS too long (too much depth per entry, too many positions) or too short (only most current position)?

Thanks!
