Ethan David Burda... vote him for President in 2044! :)

Anyway, E.D.Burda has 0 connections. He's not even "linkedin" to me (his dad). Yet his name is 100% Googleable and is on top of the search (vs other Ethan Burda's). Thus, since I do have a power of attorney, I do NOT see any harm in having a profile in his name. HE will not use it until he's 18 or 21 years of age.

It's not MySpace or Facebook. But the profile was just set up -- and will NOT be used for many many years... Until then...

Good night,

- Steven Burda

Charlie, I see your point. I don't see many others doing what Steven has done here. AFAIK Steven is one of the top users and evangelists of LinkedIn, so it's the most comfortable, familiar, value-add place for him to get his son an account... heck, who knows if LI will even be around when his son is old enough to use it!

Anyway, I liken this to the idea of buying a domain for your kid, but this was the first time I've seen this on LinkedIn, hence the post.

Good and fair perspective, thanks for weighing in.

First and foremost, congratulations to the Burda family. As a father of two, I can relate.

However, this is not an appropriate profile for LinkedIn. I joined LI because I didn't want it an atmosphere such as MySpace andFacebook. I wanted a professional, business-like environment. The addition of LI 'status' lines and the like are making this business networking site more and more like a social network, and I am not happy about that change.
