Leaving Groups

March 7th, 2008 | by Jason Alba |

I’m still waiting for a reply back from LinkedIn to help me understand the value of being a member of a group. For now I’ll share something that’s been on my mind for months. I’ve joined a few groups that I shouldn’t have, as I was poking around. I want to clean up my profile a little so that my JibberJobber group stands out more, and take off some local groups that I have no business being a member of (one in California, one in New York, etc.)

It’s pretty easy to find, if you want to poke around, but I hadn’t poked around enough to actually find it. So here’s what you do:

Step One: Click on My Groups on the left main menu area.

LinkedIn - my groups

Step Two: For the group you want to leave, click on Settings.

LinkedIn Groups - click on settings

Step Three: At the very bottom of the page, below the Save button, click on the Leave this group link.

LinkedIn Groups - Leave Group

You can see from how easy this is that I’m not good at poking around. I’ll never claim to have that as my strength :)
